This research aims to describe: 1) the results of the reproduction of myths about the origin of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area; 2) readability of the reproduction of the myth of the origin of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area. This cultural area is divided by one of the many rivers in Riau. The river in question is the Rokan River downstream which flows into the east coast of Sumatra. This library research uses documentation instruments and research instruments. Data on myths about the origins of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area were collected based on written documents that have been reproduced by the Rokan Hilir Regency Government, Riau Province in collaboration with the research institute at Riau University. Data on myths about the origin of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area were validated by the team members themselves using time triangulation. The results of the research are the reproduction of myths about the origin of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area, as many as 13 myths about the origin of place names in Malay villages in the Rokan Hilir cultural area. The myth in question is the origin of the names Bagansiapiapi, Sinaboi, Pekaitan, Bantayan, Kubu, Rimbamelintang, Pulauhalang, Pasirlimaukapas, Pulaujemur, Batuhampar, Bagansinembah, and Sintong.
