Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the types of kompang punches found in the Kompang Bukit Batu group, Pekanbaru; 2) describe the composition of the Kompang Bukit Batu group players, Pekanbaru; 3) describe the performance profile of the Kompang Bukit Batu group, Pekanbaru in the religious rituals of the Malay community in Pekanbaru City. The research was carried out at Jalan Gunung Kidul 15, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City in the middle of the 2022/2023 even semester. The main instrument of this study was interviews to obtain data on the types of kompang blows. In order to produce valid interviews, interview guidelines were prepared. Another instrument in this study was documentation techniques to obtain data in the form of photos of Kompang performances. The resource person for this research was the leader of the Bukit Batu Kompang group, Pekanbaru. This qualitative research data was analyzed thematically in accordance with the research objectives. Each data analysis was carried out using a time triangulation technique, namely conducting interviews on a second occasion. The results of the study: 1) types of kompang punches found in the Kompang Bukit Batu group, Pekanbaru include punches: mecah, mabon, intermittent, two-one, one-two, one pair, gendung hose, one straight, bombrong, kelimo, and drum; 2) players from the Kompang Bukit Batu group, Pekanbaru sitting on a chair in a semicircle figuration at the focus of the beduk instrument; 3) the performance profile of the Kompang Bukit Batu group, Pekanbaru in the religious ritual event of the Malay community in Pekanbaru City includes the position of the procession and sitting in a place where the plain flour patting is performed.
