Cerita Rakyat Kalimantan Barat dari Perspektif Keterbacaan Menggunakan Modifikasi Kriteria Indeks Fog

Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) the results of the readability test of the West Kalimantan folklore 'Nelayan yang Serakah' using the Fog Index modification; 2) the results of the readability test of the West Kalimantan folklore 'Asal Mula Sungai Landak' using the Fog Index modification; 3) the results of the readability test of the West Kalimantan folklore 'Batu Menangis' using the Fog Index modification. This study uses a library method. Through the documentation technique, observation guidelines are used as the main instrument of this study to collect the texts of the West Kalimantan folktales entitled 'The Greedy Fisherman', 'The Origin of the Landak River', and 'The Crying Stone'. The second instrument is a check-reference guideline to internally validate the West Kalimantan folktale and the results of the readability level calculation. Readability data were analyzed qualitatively using the Fog index criteria modification formula. The results of the study: 1) the West Kalimantan folklore 'Nelayan yang Serakah' has a readability level of elementary school because it is valued at 4.26; 2) West Kalimantan folklore ‘Asal Mula Sungai Landak’ has a readability level of elementary school or Islamic elementary school because it has a value of 3.42; 3) West Kalimantan folklore ‘Batu Menangis’ has a readability level of elementary school or Islamic elementary school because it has a value of 4.28. These readability results have readability requirements regarding the text of this folktale can be used for junior high school or Islamic junior high school and higher education levels.
