Keterbacaan Teks Legenda Danau Toba Versi Liputan 6 Menggunakan Modifikasi Indeks Fog

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe: 1) the level of readability of the daily version of the Lake Toba legend text, Liputan 6, using a modified Fog index; 2) whether or not the level of readability of the daily version of the Lake Toba legend text in Liputan 6 uses a modified Fog index per text group. The research was carried out in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The research uses library methods. This research uses electronic written documentation instruments, observation guidelines, and questionnaires. Electronic written documentation and observation guidelines were used to obtain data on the written text of the legend of Lake Toba. The questionnaire instrument was used to validate the data and validate the results of legibility calculations using time triangulation techniques. Lake Toba legend text data was analyzed using a modified Fog Index. Research results: 1) the daily version of the Lake Toba legend text Liputan 6 using a modified Fog index produces a value <0.700 which is the SD/MI level; means that the text of the Lake Toba legend is easy for elementary/MI students to read; 2) there is no difference in the level of readability of the daily version of the Lake Toba legend text, Liputan 6, using the modified Fog index per text group. It is hoped that the results of this research will have many benefits, namely: 1) can become study material for those interested in studying literature at the elementary/MI level; 2) can be used as supervision material for school principals for class teachers and subject teachers to participate in conducting old prose appreciation programs for students; 3) be a consideration for students who intend to write articles about readability on the linguistic side and students on legendary stories from the literary side.
